Family Approved Paid Time Off (FAPTO)

Policy:

Staff working for Participants accrue Paid Time Off bi-weekly per the agency’s Paid Time Off Policy. Paid Time Off is budgeted in the Participant’s Self-Directed Plan through the fringe rate. However, Independent Support Services, Inc. recognizes that there are times when Participants want to take their vacations, experience a medical crisis that cause hospitalizations and or other circumstances that result in staff notworking their normally scheduled hours (ie: weather emergencies). These circumstances have caused staff to use their own accrued Paid Time Off or lose wages. Independent Support Services, Inc. recognizes that Participants and or their Designee want to be able to allow for additional time off without having to make staff use their accrued Paid Time Off therefore the Family Approved Paid Time Off (FAPTO) policy has been developed.

Participants and or their Designee can choose to allow Staff to be paid under Family Approved Paid Time Off for up to30 hours in a calendar year. Independent Support Services, Inc. must review the FAPTO request for the appropriateness of use and to ensure the hours do not go over 30 hours for the calendar year. For staff to be eligible for FAPTO they must have worked for the participant requesting the FAPTO for 3 months or more.

Procedure:

1. Participant/Designee will determine the use of Family Approved Paid Time Off for staff reviewing the criteria above and informing the Self-Hired staff of their decision.

2. The Self-Hired staff will enter the FAPTO on their shift/timesheet with the decided-up on date and hours, once complete the shift will be submitted for approval.

3.The Participant or their designee will review the shift/timesheet and approve the FAPTO if correct. If the shift/timesheet is not correct the shift/timesheet will be returned to the Self-Hired Staff for changes.

4.Once submitted and approved the shift/time If there are any questions the shift/timesheet will be returned for clarification. If the use of FAPTO is over the30 hours designated for the year the shift/timesheet will not be paid for the

FAPTO and the Circle of Support will be notified.
